Laurin Yoder

BOARD MEMBER

Laurin Yoder has over 12 years of experience in local government; specifically grant administration and community and economic development. In May 2017 Ms. Yoder joined the Georgia Mountains Regional Commission (GMRC) as a Project Manager. The GMRC was created in 1962 as a sub-state district and is comprised of 51 member governments from the Northeast Georgia Mountains. The GMRC works with these entities to formulate goals and strategies for area growth and development. As a Project Manager in the Economic Development Department, she assists local governments and development authorities in pursuing sound economic development through a variety of technical assistance, including:  project development, preparation of federal and state grant and loan applications, preparation of redevelopment plans, and grant administration.  Prior to moving to Northeast Georgia in 2017, she was employed with the City of Miami Gardens for 8 years in the Community Development Department holding various positions.  As the City’s Community Development Director from 2013-2017, Ms. Yoder was responsible for administering, implementing and monitoring Federal, State, and local grant programs for the City. Some of the programs she oversaw were; economic development, housing rehabilitation, homeownership assistance, emergency rehabilitation assistance, infrastructure and public facility improvements, and public services. Before getting into public service, Ms. Yoder worked in bank marketing and public relations for 8 years.  She holds a Master’s Degree in Mass Communications from Florida International University and a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing from the Florida State University. Originally from Miami, Florida, Laurin now lives in Clayton Georgia.
